Future of Construction Symposium at ETH Zurich

Last week, our colleague Ramiz Mohareb attended the Future of Construction Symposium at ETH Zurich on behalf of BuP. Boll Beraten und Planen. As part of the poster session, he presented our contribution to the digital future of construction and represented Dipl.-Ing. Dirk Münzner.

Digital impulses for the construction of tomorrow

The Future of Construction Symposium brings together international experts from research, planning, technology and construction practice. At its core is the question of how new digital tools and technologies are changing the way we design, plan, analyse and build. Topics such as artificial intelligence, robotics, extended reality, digital fabrication, data-driven planning processes and new forms of collaboration play a central role.

For us as a planning office, this exchange is particularly valuable: the construction and planning industry is undergoing major changes. Digital methods open up new possibilities for capturing existing building data more efficiently, making planning processes more precise and enabling complex interrelationships to be analysed more effectively. This is precisely where our contribution comes in.

Our Contribution

“Drone images can be converted into BIM and analysis models. Photogrammetry and AI classify elements in 3D.”

Our poster contribution focused on how drone images can be transformed into digital models using photogrammetry and artificial intelligence. The aim is to develop reliable BIM and analysis models from image data and to automatically recognise and classify building elements in 3D space.

With this approach, we address a key challenge in digital planning: how can real-world existing building information be efficiently, structurally and reusably integrated into digital planning and analysis processes?

The discussions on site were highly inspiring. The exchange with representatives from science, technology and practice showed just how dynamically the construction industry is currently evolving — and how important it is not only to discuss digital innovations in theory, but to bring them into practical application. A heartfelt thank you goes to Ramiz Mohareb, who developed this contribution together with us and represented BuP. Boll Beraten und Planen excellently in Zurich.

The Future of Construction Symposium at ETH Zurich was a valuable platform for new impulses, inspiring discussions and international perspectives on the construction of tomorrow.

We are pleased that our contribution was part of this professional exchange.
