Technical Evening at the VDI House in Stuttgart-Vaihingen: Insights into Modern Infrastructure Planning

On 19 May 2026, a technical evening dedicated to modern approaches in infrastructure and civil engineering took place at the VDI House in Stuttgart-Vaihingen. The focus was on the project “B10 Renewal Ulm: Innovating the Future of Construction” – a forward-looking example of how complex construction projects can be implemented today in a collaborative, digital and innovative way.

In front of an engaged audience, Markus Hengst from KB – Konstruktionsgruppe Bauen and Dirk Münzner from BuP. Boll Beraten und Planen shared practical insights from the perspective of the engineering offices involved. They presented previous project phases, key challenges and the solutions developed as part of the B10 renewal project in Ulm.

Focus on Partnering, BIM and Innovative Methods

Infrastructure projects today face increasingly demanding requirements: they must be technically sophisticated, economically viable, sustainable and, at the same time, implemented with minimal impact on traffic, the environment and local residents. Especially for complex transport corridors, intelligent planning and construction processes are essential. The technical evening demonstrated how modern contract and cooperation models, digital planning methods and innovative construction techniques can work together. Key topics included partnering in contract management, the use of the BIM methodology, and new approaches to construction and demolition processes.

These topics highlighted the importance of transparent communication, clearly structured processes and close cooperation between all parties involved. Technical solutions alone are not enough – the collaborative interaction between clients, planners and contractors is equally decisive for project success.

Exchange on the Future of Construction

In addition to the technical insights, the event provided valuable space for discussion and professional exchange. Participants used the opportunity to ask questions and take away impulses for their own project practice.

Our sincere thanks go to the VDI Working Group for Structural Engineering and the Württembergischer Ingenieurverein e.V. for organizing this successful technical evening, as well as to all participants for their interest and open dialogue.

The event clearly showed that the future of construction is more digital, more collaborative and more innovative – and that this future is already being actively shaped today.
